A Controls Systems engineering role is currently available in Indianapolis, Indiana. To be considered for this role, you will have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similarly related engineering degree, plus more than 3 years of experience as a systems engineer. The selected individual has the opportunity to participate in the full life cycle development of controls systems for airborne vehicles (fixed wing, rotary wing, space, and/or unmanned systems). In each of these markets, customers expect and demand the delivery of high-quality work products throughout the life cycle to achieve regulatory approval through the application of structured, highly regulated processes. The platforms we support are the 'flagships' for the future of airborne platforms. The systems engineer works with a multi-faceted team that executes the full life cycle development - requirements development, requirements management, design, integration, test, and validation and verification related activities. Job duties: · Design and development of embedded systems and software-centric solutions · Integration, test, verification, and validation of embedded systems · Prepare and review engineering work products for technical documentation, quality, accuracy, completeness, and compliance. · Collaborate with other teams and customers to develop electrical, electronics, and mechanical control system requirements · Develop design and verification work products for safety critical applications per ARP-4754A and DO-178C compliance objectives, including requirements development, management, allocations, and traceability-related activities · Faithfully execute per the project plans, process guidance, best practices, and methods · Prepare engineering work products and technical documentation consistent with industry standard, regulatory standards, and company policies/procedures · Resolve complex problems through the application of technical experience and knowledge · Develop and communicate complex technical ideas and information in a concise and logical way Required qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similarly related Engineering plus more than 3 years of experience as a systems engineer. · More than 2 years controls system development and/or embedded systems development in a regulatory approval-based environment · Requirements management experience using a process driven digital framework or databases (such as MBSE with Cameo Systems Modeler or SYSML modeling software) · Self starter and ability to operate autonomously in a fast paced development environment, primarily using agile methodologies and best practices · Hands on experience with prototype and mock-up development for risk mitigation and concept validation · More than 2 years experience developing model-based systems with digital engineering toolsets (MATLAB, Simulink and/or similar) · Must be able to co-locate with the customer in their facility, typically a hybrid model. The rest of time spent in Belcan facilities. · Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and contribute to high-performing customer work teams. · Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is REQUIRED. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: · More than 5 years" experience in the development of airborne products · Experience with military qualification and/or FAA certification of airborne systems, along with gas turbine engine, propulsion, or electrical control system experience · Familiarity with military qualification and/or FAA certification-related processes, methods, and procedures, particularly DO-178C and ARP-4754 · Familiarity with controls systems design and analysis tools · Experience with Atlassian tools is preferred · Experience with any or all of the following tool suites is preferred: DOORS, MATLAB, Simulink, Cameo Systems Modeler or SYSML modeling. · Experience leading small teams · Preference will be given to systems engineers who enjoy a software-centric role and/or demonstrate a passion for model-centric based systems that use digital engineering principles We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $80,000 to $115,000.
