A Security Architect job in Cincinnati, OH is currently available at Belcan! The Security Architect will serve as a critical technical leader within the cybersecurity organization, supporting both the Security Operations Center (SOC) and Security Engineering teams. This role is responsible for designing, reviewing, and guiding secure technology implementations across IT and business functions. Acting as both a technical expert and a strategic advisor, the Security Architect will lead security architecture reviews, influence infrastructure and application design decisions, and ensure alignment with enterprise security standards. This individual will also chair the Technology Review Board, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to embed security into solution lifecycles from inception to deployment. Job Duties: Core Responsibilities- Architecture & Technical Leadership · Act as the primary security architect across enterprise IT initiatives, supporting secure solution design and implementation. · Lead deep-dive security architecture reviews for new and existing technologies, ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements. · Serve as a subject matter expert on secure system design, encryption, authentication, cloud security, and secure network architecture. · Guide the development of reference security architectures and reusable security patterns for business and IT teams. SOC & Security Engineering Collaboration · Partner closely with SOC and Security Engineering teams to enhance detection capabilities, threat visibility, and incident response workflows. · Support engineering efforts by validating security tool configurations (e.g., EDR, SIEM, DLP) and ensuring integration with broader architecture. · Help design and validate alerting and monitoring strategies to match evolving threat models. · Participate in red team/blue team exercises and security control evaluations to inform architecture improvements. Business Engagement & IT Alignment · Act as a bridge between the security organization and IT/business units to ensure secure adoption of new technologies and services. · Engage early with project teams and business leaders to embed security by design and reduce risk exposure. · Facilitate security assessments of third-party services, SaaS integrations, and cloud-based deployments. · Provide security consulting and architectural support for major IT transformations (e.g., cloud migration, application modernization). Governance & Risk Management · Lead and facilitate the Technology Review Board (TRB), ensuring all reviewed solutions align with security policies and enterprise risk tolerance. · Maintain architecture review documentation, decision records, and risk assessments. · Support compliance with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and industry-specific standards. · Collaborate with risk management and legal teams to evaluate architectural risks associated with business decisions or vendor engagements. Cross-Functional Collaboration · Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, and Application teams to ensure secure configurations and operational practices. · Influence roadmaps and technology strategies by advocating for secure design principles and technical debt reduction. · Participate in cross-domain working groups to improve integration between security and IT operations. Security Strategy & Innovation · Contribute to the enterprise security strategy by evaluating emerging technologies, threat trends, and industry best practices. · Drive security innovation initiatives to improve posture while maintaining agility and performance. · Recommend and validate the adoption of new security tools or architectural changes to support evolving business needs. Required Qualifications: · 8-10+ years of progressive experience in information security and enterprise architecture roles. · Proven experience designing and reviewing architectures for cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware). Strong technical understanding of security domains including: · Identity and access management (IAM) · Data protection and DLP · Hardware Security Module (HSM) - PKI - File level encryption · Secure network design (e.g., segmentation, zero trust) · Endpoint protection and SIEM integration · Application security and DevSecOps · Experience leading architecture review boards or technical governance forums. · Deep familiarity with frameworks like NIST CSF, SABSA, or TOGAF is a plus. · Effective communicator able to translate technical risks for business and executive audiences. · Due to the nature of the work performed, US CITIZENSHIP IS A REQUIREMENT! Preferred Qualifications & Skills: · Experience with SOAR platforms for automated response and playbook execution. · Familiarity with Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS). · Experience with cloud security monitoring (e.g., Azure, AWS). · Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) concepts. · Industry security certifications (GCIH, GCFA, CySA+, CISSP) preferred. · Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK framework We offer a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $100,000 to $140,000.
