Overview
We are seeking a technically skilled FAI Technical Writer to support documentation efforts for our client"s engine program. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that First Article Inspection (FAI) records are complete, compliant, and aligned with AS9102 standards, OEM specifications, and regulatory requirements.
You"ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to map part and assembly requirements to manufacturing planning documentation. This documentation is essential for verifying compliance during the initial production of complex aerospace assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
* Review ballooned drawings and identify where each requirement is captured within the assembly planning sequence (planning authored by another team).
* Create structured Excel documentation, using a defined template, to map drawing requirements to specific workstations, operations, and sequences.
* Generate print-to-planning correlation sheets for a set of nine (9) ballooned assembly drawings.
* Collaborate with the assembly planning team to address and close any gaps in planning coverage for drawing requirements.
* Ensure the resulting documentation is clear, traceable, and ready for use by shop floor mechanics to record verification data during assembly.
Preferred Qualifications
* Background in aerospace manufacturing, especially in assembly or quality support
* Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, including part and assembly prints and ballooned documentation
* Experience working in or supporting a shop floor or production environment
* Comfortable handling a high volume of structured administrative work
* Familiarity with FAI processes and AS9102 documentation standards is a strong plus
