Job Title: First Article Inspection Technician (FAI) Location: Springfield, NJ 07081 Area Code: 201, 973 Pay Rate: $29.00-34.00/hour Shift: 1st Employment Type: Direct, Full Benefits #AerospaceJobs #QualityInspection #ManufacturingJobs Job Summary: Belcan is seeking an experienced First Article Inspection (FAI) Technician to support a key aerospace/defense client. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and executing comprehensive FAI packages in accordance with AS9102 and applicable quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, hands-on inspection skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering and production teams in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: * Prepare and review First Article Inspection (FAI) and product data packages * Verify that all required documentation-drawings, specifications, and certifications-is complete and accurate * Perform dimensional inspections using hand tools and CMM or automated inspection equipment * Conduct visual inspections to identify surface defects and non-conformances * Execute basic functional tests to confirm product meets operational requirements * Ensure accurate labeling and identification of components for full traceability * Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve documentation or inspection discrepancies Required Qualifications: * 3 or more years of experience preparing and executing FAIs in aerospace, defense, or nuclear industries * Strong understanding of AS9100 and AS9102 standards * Proficient with hand inspection tools and interpreting technical drawings * Familiar with documentation and quality requirements in regulated manufacturing environments * Strong skills in digital documentation and inspection reporting * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Ability to work independently at a customer site Preferred Qualifications: * Associate or Bachelor's degree or technical certification in Quality, Engineering, or related field * Experience in union shop environments * Basic CMM programming or operation skill * Familiarity with NADCAP standards and requirements Belcan provides a competitive pay and benefits package.
