Job Title: Supplier Development Consultant - Manufacturing Engineering (1099) Employment Type: Contract (1099 / LLC) Location: Deployment to Dillon, SC 29536 (paid travel or increased rate if local) Industry: Aerospace, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Travel: 50%+ #aerospaceconsulting #manufacturingengineering #supplierdevelopment Position Summary: Belcan is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering & Supplier Development Consultant to provide hands-on technical support and process improvement leadership at a supplier site in Dillon, SC. This role is part of Belcan"s supplier support advisory team and will focus on driving machining performance, dimensional conformance, and process stability for critical aerospace components. The consultant will serve as both a technical advisor and on-the-ground liaison, working with supplier engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues, improve in-process capability, and ensure alignment with customer quality and delivery expectations. Key Responsibilities: * Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support for twin spindle vertical turning lathes (VTLs) with Fanuc controllers. * Conduct in-process capability analysis (Cp, Cpk) and lead real-time troubleshooting to stabilize machining outcomes. * Perform in-machine probing and interpret CMM data to adjust cutting parameters and drive part conformance. * Develop and optimize G-code and M-code programs as needed to resolve machining defects or improve efficiency. * Use Unigraphics (UG/NX) and Teamcenter to review part models, process plans, and maintain engineering documentation. * Identify process gaps or risks and collaborate with supplier teams on corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. * Support supplier in achieving quality and delivery goals by improving operational discipline and adherence to manufacturing best practices. * Facilitate daily technical stand-ups or production meetings with supplier stakeholders and communicate status to Belcan and customer teams. * Track progress against agreed-upon technical and delivery metrics, and support escalation or recovery efforts as needed. Required Qualifications: * 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or machining process improvement. * Expertise in machining operations, particularly VTLs with Fanuc controllers, and precision turning. * Strong working knowledge of Unigraphics (UG/NX) and Teamcenter PLM systems. * Proven experience with in-machine probing, CMM feedback integration, and capability studies. * Proficiency in G-code / M-code interpretation and editing for real-time process adjustments. * Solid background in problem-solving, process mapping, and data analysis. * Ability to work independently in a supplier environment and build strong technical rapport with shop floor and engineering staff. * U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work. * Willingness to be onsite full-time in Dillon, SC for the duration of the engagement. Preferred Qualifications: * Aerospace or defense manufacturing background * Prior experience in a supplier development, supplier quality, or technical advisory role * Familiarity with corrective action systems, audit readiness, or customer-facing recovery efforts * Strong written and verbal communication skills Belcan is an equal opportunity employer.
