Job Title: Supplier Development Consultant - Manufacturing Engineering (1099) Employment Type: Contract (1099 / LLC) Location: Deployment to Trenton, MI 48183 (paid travel or increased rate if local) Industry: Aerospace, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Travel: 50%+ #aerospaceconsulting #manufacturingengineering #supplierdevelopment Position Summary: Belcan is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering & Supplier Support Consultant to provide technical leadership and hands-on support at a supplier facility in Brownstown Township, MI. This consultant will work closely with the supplier"s engineering, tooling, and production teams to address part-level repairs, improve fabrication processes, and support tooling and CNC programming needs. The role is part of Belcan"s broader supplier advisory program and is designed to help stabilize and optimize production, support design changes, and ensure conformance to dimensional and quality standards across complex aerospace components. Key Responsibilities * Provide engineering support for repair of part families, including review of existing processes and implementation of corrective actions. * Lead tool design for crimping operations specific to parts; ensure tool reliability, repeatability, and ease of use. * Act as a fabrication engineer for sheet metal, forming, and finishing operations-supporting Dimensional Correct process standards. * Serve as a second set of eyes in the Finish area, identifying inefficiencies or process gaps in late-stage part flow. * Collaborate with global engineering stakeholders to support part change implementation and promote engineering updates initiated by domestic or international teams. * Support brazing processes, providing expertise in techniques, process optimization, and issue resolution. * Program CNC milling and turning machines, with the ability to write, modify, and optimize code for production performance. * Serve as a 5-axis laser programmer, supporting precision cutting operations. * Oversee tool building, including both new tooling and duplicate fixtures to support production volume and eliminate tool sharing issues. Required Qualifications * 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, fabrication, or aerospace production support * Strong background in sheet metal, forming, and fabrication processes * Experience with tooling design, especially in crimping, brazing, and forming applications * Hands-on expertise in CNC programming (milling and turning) and 5-axis laser programming * Familiarity with repair engineering and modification of legacy parts (1389C/D or similar) * Understanding of dimensional inspection processes and working within a quality-critical environment * Ability to work independently and lead hands-on improvement efforts at supplier sites * U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work * Willingness to be onsite in Brownstown Township, MI for the duration of the engagement Preferred Qualifications * Prior experience supporting suppliers in a consulting, advisor, or contractor capacity * Background in brazing techniques, with ability to troubleshoot or implement optimized solutions * Experience interfacing with global engineering stakeholders to implement design or process changes * Strong problem-solving and communication skills, particularly in fast-paced production environments Belcan is an equal opportunity employer.
